What’s the difference between a Swedish massage and a Deep Tissue massage?

One of the most common questions we get from customers when booking an appointment is: “What’s the difference between a Swedish massage and a Deep Tissue massage?”

Swedish massage is for relaxation.
Deep Tissue massage is therapeutic.

For example, if you just want to relax and don’t want to experience any discomfort during the massage,
request a Swedish massage. Your therapist can use firm pressure if desired, but they are not going to work on relieving chronic muscle tension or knots in your muscles.

If you’re having muscle pain, stiffness, muscle tension, request a Deep Tissue massage. Your therapist will work at the deeper layers of the muscles to relieve tension and work out stiffness and knots. This massage can be a little intense, and it’s common to experience a level of discomfort during the massage.

Your therapist will check in with you regularly during the massage to ensure your comfort.

It is important to talk with your massage therapist before your massage begins, to ensure they understand your goals for the massage, any health issues you may have, and any specific problem areas that need focused attention.
